A perfect pair

Monday, August 1, 2011 by Cate Cadbury

How familiar is this scenario? You take a prized piece of clothing out of your closet—a pair of perfectly fitted jeans, a flattering top—only to realize (much to your despair) that after so many years of good lovin’, it is visibly losing its oomph. And you think to yourself, “Why…WHY did I not get more than one?!”

Been there. Done that. Not letting it happen again—and neither should you.

This season, Addition Elle has developed what appears to be a failsafe formula where fashion, fit, and comfort create a beautifully balanced look and feel. Please allow me to introduce the Perfect Fit capri and its fashionable tops: your ideal match for full-figured fabulousness.

The best part? You can stock up on different colors and styles, allowing you to mix and match for summers to come—thus avoiding premature wear-and-tear caused by repetitive wearing.

The Perfect Fit capris

Addition Elle is renowned for its Perfect Fit designs, which prove that not all plus-sized body types are alike. The highly effective system will help you identify whether you’re slim, shaped, curvy, or versatile. Once you’ve got that figured out, the fashion world is your oyster.

Why the capri pant? Its fresh feel and over-the-knee coverage make it a safe and versatile choice for women of all sizes. Plus, when paired with the right top it transitions seamlessly from office wear to off-duty attire.

The office look

Get down to business with slimming black capris: simple yet chic, they demand a top that flatters your figure yet still looks professional. My number-one choice? The sleeveless wrap blouse with its deep V-neckline, feminine ruching, and waist-defining lateral tie. Pair with high heels and a stone-embellished watch, and you’re set to go.

The happy hour look

Going out for cocktails and canapés? Switch out the above-mentioned top for a fun and flirty cami with necklace detail. The colorful motifs (either bright florals or laguna blue prints), the sweetheart neckline, and the empire-cut design make for a delightful combination. Top off this elegant off-duty look with a pretty shell ring.

The weekend look

Whether you’re running errands all day or enjoying a little downtime, you can look great doing it all with two perfectly paired pieces: the classic beige capri (complete with pork-chop pockets and side ruching) and the sleeveless scoop-neck top (available in an array of gorgeous colors). Comfort, fashion, and fit come together in this dynamic duo that no woman should live without.

And there’s a whole lot more where that came from. Gear up for a style-filled season, ladies, and stock up on these gotta-have staples: they’ll last you for summers to come—and become those prized pieces of clothing you’ll be glad you got a few of.

Happy shopping!

Capris Are a Great Option

Capris offer us the best of both worlds!

They keep us cooler than pants and show just a hint of leg.  But they don't expose as much as shorts and don't ride up like shorts can.  When shorts seem too casual, capris are a great option on a hot day!

These cotton sateen pull on capris are the perfect example.  They feature a flattering narrow leg and side slits for ultimate comfort.  They can be dressed up for the office or dressed down for the grocery store.

Womens Plus Size Capris

Monday, April 19, 2010 by Lauren Crist
Spring is in the air and the weather is just fine for wearing a nice pair of capris. While the weather is warm and breezy at this time of year the temperature can drop a few degrees making the climate a bit too chilly for shorts. Capris are the perfect solution for the time between spring and summer. Womens plus size capris make it easy to dress for the season, especially when the plus size cargo capris convert into long summer shorts as well.

Penningtons convertible capri converts into shorts is wearing these capris is a versatile way to dress for the weather while giving you the opportunity to roll up the hem with a twill drawstring when then weather gets a bit warmer. The capris are available in black, ash grey, and dusty green and these colors match with any neutral colored or white top. The relaxed fit and elastic waistband of these capris are great for gardening, running errands, relaxing around the house or attending a baseball or soccer game around sunset when the temperature drops. Breaking the rules.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 by Laura , Lingerie Buyer Addition Elle
I remember the days when plus size women ONLY wore black on the bottom and light colors on top, stayed away from horizontal stripes and colorful prints and never showed their arms or legs.

We were told that white bottoms, stripes and prints made us look bigger and that our curves were not meant to be seen.

Today's full figure women are fashion forward, body confident, and know that figure flattering does not mean figure concealing.

I broke my first (black on the bottom) rule with a great white skirt, black camisole & white shrug --

3/4 sleeve short asymmetrical cardiganand enjoy the compliments every time I put this outfit on.

Myth -0 - Positively Plus -1

Although I am not much of a stripe person,
both of these mix and match tops from Addition Elle's Swim Shop
are coming on vacation with me this year.
Not just figure flattering, but oozing body confidence.
Yes, we can wear stripes - bold, colorful stripes right across the midriff.

Myth -0      Positively Plus -2

We all know that full busted women should never wear a padded bra because they add volume...right?  SOOOOOOOOOO  wrong!
Many of our customers broke this rule when they first tried on our Contour Bra,
and keep breaking that rule with every new fashion color!

The lightly padded cups add shape, not size.  Excellent support, all day comfort, fun colors and prints that are meant to be seen.

Myth-0     Positively Plus -3

Then there's the strapless issue....absolutely no way for a full figure woman to look great in a strapless, halter or one strap dress.  Not so!

Our customers are showing some skin in strapless & spaghetti strap summer tops and dresses, with the help of convertible or strapless bras that are supportive and comfortable.

Myth -0    Positively Plus -4.

Capris?  Leggings?  Short Skirts?  Bold prints? Vests?  COLOR????
Yes, Yes & Yes!
Which rules have you broken?  Which Myths laid to rest?
Which ones are you going to take on this season?
Myth -0    Positively Plus -the possibilities are endless!

Plus Size Jackets for Spring

Saturday, April 18, 2009 by Laura , Lingerie Buyer Addition Elle
Plus Size Jackets at Addition Elle are available in a variety of styles, shapes and colors this Spring.  Belted or not, long sleeve or short, swing or fitted, one thing they all have in common is that they have been styled to fit and flatter the plus size woman.

michel antoni short sleeve jacket with printed belt
This belted safari jacket by Michel Antoni is one of my favorites.  The neutral sand color will work with most Spring wardrobes, and the animal print belt gives it a touch of attitude.

Opt for an unlined, short sleeve cotton safari jacket for a more casual look. It is less constructed and perfect for those warm summer days.  Pair it with white capris for a crisp fresh look, or brighten up a basic black pant.

tulip sleeve printed sateen blazer

This printed cotton sateen jacket has flattering tulip sleeves and a wide open collar, drawing the eye to your neckline.  This was one of the hottest styles when we toured Western Canada --- the combination of styling, color and trendy dot print make it a winner.

The newest arrival at Addition Elle is a cherry red short sleeve jacket  that boasts a large, pleated collar and tie belt.  Did you know that women who wear red are usually confident and self assured?  You'll definitely stand out in the crowd in the bold little piece!

love & legend white denim jacket
Choose trendy white denim from Love and Legend with zip front pockets and elbow length sleeves...

...or go for a dark denim zip front long sleeve jacket from the Classic collection.

There's a jacket for you, no matter what your style OR  lifestyle, from the plus size fashion experts this Spring!

Tall and Petite as it relates to Plus Sizes

Tuesday, December 23, 2008 by Doug Edwards
Happy Holidays to everyone

In my last post I said I would talk a bit about these two speciality size ranges within the already specialty size business of plus sizes.

Addition Elle, Penningtons and MXM all carry petite pants (and capris in summer) and tall pants are carried in select stores in select basic pants and denim. Tall sizes for women (plus or regular) is the fringe business within an already fringe business. To be brutally honest we can not invest inventory in the tall sizes as our experience has shown that we do not sell what we carry for the very reason we either a. have the inventory in the wrong stores or b. the few tall plus customers we do have on our database do not like what we carry. Have we given up on Mrs. Tall Plus? no we will continue to carry some pants in select stores and we will always have the sizes in the online store.
One thing we do though is ensure that our regular pants have generous inseam lengths.

Within plus size petite sizes over 50% of our bottom business is petite.
I can tell you that our petite top sales are just ok. It is a tough business to address.
In Addition Elle ,select styles are purchased spec'd to petite sizes. In Penningtons and MXM the petite plus customer is served through various lengths of tops in the tshirt and blouse departments. Pennigtons also provides a few styles of petite plus sized outerwear/coats.

We have found through studying our sales and by reviewing our database customer information that our tall customers are younger then the average customer and they are likely to be in western Canada. Our petite plus customers are older are likely to be in Ontario and Quebec.

I would welcome any comments from you. Ms.Plus Tall and Ms. Plus Petite.

In and Out of Plus sizes but the fashion remains the same?

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 by Doug Edwards

I open this blog entry with a copy of an emotional question from another blog.

"My sister has gained alot of weight from a medical condition … she's about a size 24 now … She got through the summer in Walmart capris and big tshirts… but she's starting a new job as a school aide next week, and needs casual professional clothes. And she's been crying her eyes out trying to find some in her price range. She is also a metalhead type chick and needs clothes for outside of work when she goes to concerts etc."

I have met with similar conversations and questions at home and at work.
My wife and two daughters are transitional women. 50% of the time they are regular size and 50% of the time they are plus size and the other 50% of the time they are in between. (I know that adds up to 150%).

The point that I am trying to make is that today women's fashion is accomodated in women's plus size shops as much as it is in the regular size women's stores. It is a requirement to stay in business. I think there are times when the plus size stores are more "on current trend" then the balance of the womens stores. This comment is not mine it is from my very fashionable family.
The biggest issue for a plus woman are the selection of stores. They are limited and when non-specialty stores carry plus sizes they often hide the assortment in the back. e.g. any department store

Below is the link to our site three brands of plus clothing. I think after you shop the pages you will say that I can find fashion here.
